Spin Art is an original acrylic painting 20” x 20” and is part of my Abstract Series.
Spin Art is an actual thing - we had a spin art kit when I was a kid. I really have to dig deep to remember how this thing worked, but I know we definitely had to do it in the garage. I think there were little vials of different colored inks (or maybe it was paint?) that got poured into a dispenser of sorts. Then you’d turn it on and it would spin crazily, spraying the ink in random, exciting patterns and it was great fun to watch in action. The result was always thrilling too. This painting is intensely textured from palette knife paint application and dabbing of wet paint to create a physical pattern within the color pattern. It is my version of grown-up hand-painted Spin Art.
