Moon Over Miami is a highly textured painting. There were so many names to play with…Harvest Moon, Once in a Blue Moon, Awestruck. Moon Over Santa Monica just didn’t have the same ring as Moon Over Miami, and I’m a sucker for good word combinations, so I had to roll with it…even though the better part of my beach life was spent in Santa Monica.
Have you ever seen the moon “land” on the water like this? It is truly powerful, like it’s too big to take in, almost threatening in its intensity. There’s a bit of an ominous, foreboding feeling, with unsettled, agitated waves dancing and roaring in the darkness. It’s a compelling scene, it fills all your senses - the smell of the ocean, the sand beneath your feet, the dampness that lands on your skin. It is breathtakingly, astonishingly awe-inspiring when it lands like this, the Moon Over Miami.
