THE ARB IS CURRENTLY EXHIBITING AT THE CHANHASSEN PUBLIC LIBARY AND IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

$500.00

The Arb is an original acrylic painting 20” x 20” and is set in a natural unstained floating frame, ready to hang.

The Arb. I have so much to say about you. Exquisite, magnificent, where my heart beats most calmly and my soul is embraced in your unending beauty. Some of my best memories have been made here, intimate conversations and secrets barely whispered are held here. When my heart was too heavy for my body to bear the burden of it’s weight, here is where I came. My senses are filled in this environment, with each season bringing it’s own unique glory. It is the place where all of my visiting friends and relatives from California have been “forced” to go. And ultimately, it was the place they all requested to go on each subsequent visit.

My children and I would come here many times each summer when they were young. They would delight in the excellent “frogging” to be found in various fountains. They took summer camps here, learning to cook and eat vegetables they had just cut off the plants. They created artwork from the dye of crushed flowers. They strolled the herb gardens and smelled the familiar fragrance of many of the herbs I cooked with. When we were bored and didn’t know how to fill our empty day, we came here and loved every second of it, always finding something new to immerse ourselves in.

My son and I have gotten lost on these trails. My friends and I have attended art installations here. My daughter and I have laid in the sun on a hill and smelled a thousand roses within your gates. My beautiful husband got down on one knee and proposed to me here. You are unrivaled; beyond lovely; unspeakably, fantastically, gracefully beautiful. You are not a place. You are my friend, The Arb.

(The Arb is the Arboretum where I live in suburban Minneapolis.)
