MINERAL SPRINGS
Minerals is an original acrylic painting and is part of my Thunder Skies Series. It is 24” x 30” and is set in a natural unstained oak floating frame, ready to hang.
Minerals are fascinating to me. They are nutrients our bodies need. “Natural mineral water” advertised on water bottles convinces us of health benefits. Minerals are in the dirt. (When I was a kid I could spend hours playing in the dirt with a magnet, collecting iron from the soil, an oddly satisfying pastime.) There is a relationship between minerals and the periodic table of elements. Beautiful stones and valuable metals have mineral components. Yellowstone’s geysers are filled with minerals. The colors and subject in this painting, vaguely reminiscent of copper patina, make me desire a trip to natural effervescent Mineral Springs.
